SYSTEM OF CREDITS (ECTS)

At the POWI¦LAŃSKI COLLEGE IN KWIDZYN, ECTS credits are granted for course units (lectures and classes) passed and bachelor's seminars. To get credits for a semester, a student should obtain 30 points. The detailed list of types of classes and credits assigned thereto is presented in the study description.
ECTS credits are relative measures of the quantity of student work required to pass a given course unit. They are defined on the basis of the number of classes, but mainly on the basis of total student workload. They reflect the quantity of work required at particular classes in relation to the total workload necessary to complete a full academic year at a given institution (lectures, practical work, seminars, private work in the library and at sending, as well as examinations and other assessment activities).

Practical information for foreign students

ECTS is thus based on the calculation of the whole student workload, and not only on the number of hours spent with teachers. The quantity of work required in the whole academic year corresponds to 60 credits. 30 credits are given for a semester. Thanks to such a solution, students may study at other institutions. The description of particular course units allows students to select a programme close to the programme of studies of the sending institution. Having passed a given course unit, a student gets a defined number of credits. They are not, however, entered into the student record at the sending institution. If a student leaves to study at another institution, the list of credits is prepared both before leave and after return. Credits for course units passed abroad replace credits that a student would normally get at the sending institution.
