MAIN ELEMENTS OF ECTS

1. Credits under ECTS are points assigned to particular subjects. They define the quantity of work to be performed by a student to get credits for a given subject.
2. The information package is a guide presenting an institution, its particular departments and specialities. It comprises necessary information on the organisation and structure of studies valid only for a given year of study.
3. The transcript of records presents student achievements. It is comparable to systems applied at other institutions.

4. A learning agreement is binding both for a sending institution, as well as another institution a student has decided to study at for a given semester.

The learning agreement provides for the full recognition of studies completed

at a partner institution by a sending institution. This may be also an individual agreement for each student concluded before such a student starting any studies outside his/her sending institution. Having selected an institution for further studies, a student fills a special application form. In agreement with an ECTS co-ordinator and based on the Information Package of a receiving institution, he/she defines the programme of own studies. The full recognition of credits means that the period at the receiving institution (including examinations and other forms of evaluation) is recognised as an equivalent comparable to the period of studies at the sending institution (including examinations and other forms of evaluation). Credits are recognised in spite of the fact that programmes of two institutions may differ.
